You’re in the right place. Let’s take the first step and connect.
Psychotherapy is my calling. The work begins with listening.
As a mother of two teens, at the head of a multi-generational household, forging healthy relationships is my reality.
Working for two decades with the Ontario Public Service, in education and children and youth services, has exposed me to cutting-edge data and real-world stories and solutions.
Two graduate degrees (MA, Political Science and MA, Counselling Psychology) have trained my ability to connect research and practice to positive outcomes.
My person-centred, non-judgmental, inclusive lens is shaped by my own history and exposure to different cultures and values. I am the child of a German refugee and an Irish-Scottish 3rd generation Canadian and have lived in Belgium, France, Taiwan, and Germany.
Safe and Effective Therapy.
Grounded in experience, in evidence and in empathy.
Individual therapy is a courageous act. You are here because you want something to change.
Incorporating Adlerian Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) strategies, you (your child/teen) will make positive change happen
What can therapy do for you? Some examples:
A teen goes deeper
Through our person-centred therapeutic relationship, a teen client sees his/her/their own value and takes a healthy risk.
A child stays present
Using mindfulness techniques, a child client rises above negative thought patterns and makes a friend.
An adult finds a new path
Exploring early childhood experiences, an adult client brings his/her/their worldview to bear on the present, finding their inner guide.

Yes, great question! While therapy is very individual, there are some common pathways that therapy takes to be successful.
I ask my client [and parent(s), where appropriate] to fill out a few forms, to collect important information on health history, issues, goals for therapy, etc. All data is kept secure and confidential.
I build therapeutic rapport with my client, rooted in unconditional empathy, positive regard, and a quest to make therapy feel safe and chill.
I develop and deliver a treatment plan which can include tailored strategies and tools for the client to learn and practise.
I ask for feedback, measure progress, and make adjustments to the plan, in consultation with my client [and parents and teachers, when relevant]. Every step is taken with client's consent.
-
No, my spaces all have stairs (either externally or internally).
I am able to accommodate some barriers to access, in discussion with the individual client (e.g. I may travel to the client for an additional fee).
In all cases, I can offer online/virtual/phone sessions.

I offer services to all peoples, regardless of culture, creed, gender expression, ethnicity, etc. I also hold as part of my own identity the fact that I live and work on the traditional land of the Huron-Wendat, the Seneca, and the Mississaugas of the Credit. My way of knowing, my spiritual, and ingrained beliefs might mean that I am not the right fit for someone. In this case, I am ready to assist in finding a therapist (or other form of support) which meets your needs.

My logo shows a plant and a sun. The sun represents light, energy, and a source of strength. The plant represents growth, life, and, equally, a nurturing source of strength. The sun and the plant are in an enduring relationship with one another. These themes of connected growth, strength, and change underpin Therapy with Zoë.
